Who is eligible for the Tripsaver service?

The services described below are for non-NC State patrons. If you are a student, faculty, or staff member at NC State University, please visit our Tripsaver homepage to place a request.

Individuals
Individuals not affiliated with NC State requesting on behalf of themselves.

Companies and Organizations
A company or organization not affiliated with NC State.

Libraries
Non-profit, non-OCLC libraries.

Veterinarians
NC State College of Veterinary Medicine alumnbi, licensed veterniarians, and veterinary technicians. Veterinarians and veterinary technicians who are not CVM alumni or AVMA members will need to provide proof of licensure.

What can I request?

You can request scans, within copyright limits, of items in the NC State University Libraries' print collection.

Individuals can also request books, journal volumes, maps, or microforms for library use at the Hill or Hunt Libraries, without charge.

What are the fees for using the Tripsaver service?

Individuals, companies, and organizations:
$20 per article up to 30 pages

Libraries:
$15 per article up to 30 pages
$15 per loan

NC Community College and Cooperating Raleigh College Libraries:
No fee

Veterinarians:
No fee

Rush fees and costs for more than 30 pages (applies to all users):
$0.25 per page aboved 30 pages
$10 additional per article for rush service (requested by 12PM, delivered by 5PM same day; weekdays only)

Why do I need a username and password?

Your username and password allows us to give you secure access to information about your interlibrary loan requests. We can also enable you to edit your personal information such as your address or phone number.

Your username can be anything you like, such as your name, abbreviations, or an alphanumeric code. Your password must be at least eight characters long and contain a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, and a number. We recommend that you follow good security practice and choose a password that is different from those you use to access other systems. However, no one but you will know your password, not even the library staff. The password you set is encrypted for security.

What if I forget my password?

In the event that you forget your password, please contact the Tripsaver office at (919) 515-2116. We can then reset your password allowing you access to Tripsaver. In this event, please change your password the next time you log in.

Why don't I see all my older requests when I look at my request history?

From time to time we purge older records the system. Our policy is to keep requests online for three years.

Whom do I contact if I have problems with or questions?

Why does my browser say that you're sending a cookie? What's in it?

The technology that we use sends a Session ID to be stored on your machine. You can refuse this cookie and still be able to use the system without any problems.
